Overview of LLUK in the UK
Welcome to Lifelong Learning UK across the UK.
Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) works closely with lifelong learning employers and other stakeholders across the UK to ensure that their views are represented and that the needs of the lifelong learning community, at both regional and national level, are included in all aspects of our work.
The lifelong learning workforce in the UK is currently estimated to consist of between 1 and 1.2 million individuals, including at least:
- 283,094 staff in community learning and development (CLD)
- 272,970 staff in further education (FE)
- 340,000 staff in higher education (HE)
- 52,007 staff in libraries, archives and information services (LAIS)
- 136,625 staff in work based learning (WBL).
