Stage 2:  Understanding the current supply of skills provision

The research formed the second stage of the SSA process - the assessment of current provision for the lifelong learning sector - and was guided by findings from the identification of skills needs in stage 1. The research covered the following topics:

  • a profile of the workforce
  • a profile of current skills and current skills needs
  • future skills needs and priorities
  • investment in training
  • the supply of provision
