Staff Individualised Record (SIR) data collection

What is the Staff Individualised Record?

The Staff Individualised Record (SIR) is a significant collection of workforce data in the further education college sector in England, providing a comprehensive overview of the profile of all staff working in further education colleges since 2001/02.  It contains individualised data on demographics characteristics, qualifications, location, pay and other factors.

What is Lifelong Learning UK's role in the SIR?

Lifelong Learning UK is managing the collection of the SIR 17 data in the further education sector for the academic year 2008/09. In 2007, Lifelong Learning UK took responsibility for the SIR data collection process. SIR 16 (in 2008) realised a new data collection system, supported by a new field structure and submission mechanisms. A similar schema and collection system is being utilised for the SIR 17 collection.

Lifelong Learning UK analyse workforce data provided through the SIR collections to generate robust and reliable labour market information about the further education sector in England.  Each collection year Lifelong Learning UK publishes a headline report on the data.
