Sector Skills Assessment 2009
The Sector Skills Assessment 2009 updates and refreshes the skills needs information from the lifelong learning workforce that was published in the sector skills agreement.
Research involved interviews with lifelong learning employers and stakeholders, as well as a review of policy documents and current data. Our analysis looked at the following areas.
Drivers of skills demand
Analysis of the current and recent performance and competitive position of the sector; the economic structure and condition of the sector; the factors driving this performance and position; and the skills implications.
Current skills needs
An analysis of the current and expected skill needs in the sector, taking into account the different needs of different types of employers, including an analysis of skills shortages and gaps.
Future skill needs
Analysis of future trends to help ensure appropriate anticipation of needs and likely developments.
Current training provision
Analysis of training provision offered by employers to their staff.
