New report reveals estimated six million workers supporting the country's young people
03 February 2010
An estimated workforce of six million people is helping young people in England reach their full potential, a report reveals.
The research, A picture worth millions, is the first to bring together all existing data to examine the true scope of the young people's workforce: statutory and third sector staff who support 13-19 yearolds (and people aged up to 25 with a disability) in their personal, social and educational development.
Commissioned by the Children's Workforce Development Council, the report finds that 6.04 million people work with young people in a paid or volunteer role in 55 different occupations and across 12 sectors. This equates to nearly one in seven adults.
