UK LAIS National Occupational Standards approved
10 July 2008
Following extensive consultation with employers and stakeholders, Lifelong Learning UK have now developed the first combined suite of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Libraries Archives and Information Services employers. The NOS were approved by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) in May 08.
NOS have a series of different uses that can benefit both employers and employees. They can be used to support the development of:
- Job Descriptions
- Team Structures/Organisational redesign
- Recruitment advertisements
- Competency Based Frameworks
- Performance Management and Performance Development tools
- Training Programmes (at the level of both the organisation and the individual)
- Qualification frameworks
amongst many other uses.
View the National Occupational Standards on the UK CES website.
LLUK is currently awaiting a funding decision from UKCES to enable these National Occupational Standards to be translated into Welsh. We hope to have a decision shortly.
