This document provides guidance for awarding institutions on teacher roles and details the qualifications required to undertake initial teacher training from September 2007, including details of specialist pathways within qualifications. This document details the knowledge, understanding and professional practice required by those performing the full or associate teaching role as per the professional standards for teachers, tutors and trainers.

This document replaces the FENTO Subject Specifications for Adult Literacy and ESOL at level 4. It provides the content for subject-specific teacher training qualifications as per the professional standards for English (literacy and ESOL). Application of the professional standards for Mathematics (numeracy)This document replaces the FENTO Subject Specifications for Adult Numeracy at level 4. It provides the content for subject-specific teacher training qualifications as per the professional standards for mathematics (numeracy).
