I'm interested in teaching in Further Education

Two different teaching roles are recognised within the sector: the Full Teacher role and the Associate Teacher role.

Full Teacher role: A teacher, trainer or tutor employed in this role undertakes the full range of teaching duties. In addition to teaching and assessing learners, teachers, trainers and tutors in the Full Teacher role will devise their own teaching and assessment materials, schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching strategies and assessment strategies.

Associate Teacher role: Someone employed in this role will perform a limited range of activities compared with the Full Teacher role. It is likely that someone employed in an Associate Teacher role will be provided with schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials and assessment materials.
