Career guidance

Background
Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) has taken responsibility for career guidance specialist employers (except for the providers of service to young people in England) within its footprint and will lead on supporting the career guidance workforce on a UK wide basis. LLUK will also provide the framework for development of the workforce that delivers the adult advancement and career service in England. This piece of work is funded by the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills.

UK wide
The UK Commission for Employment and Skills has provided funding for the integration of career guidance employers into the footpint of Lifelong Learning UK. Activity has included the development of a constituency map and the formation of a career guidance consituency panel; the mapping of national occupational standards (NOS) relevant to the career guidance sector; an occupational map and a functional map, a sector skills agreement for the career guidance sector and the updating of LLUK's existing sector qualification strategy (SQS).

England-only
The England-only work is designed to build capacity for the adult advancement and careers service. LLUK is working closely with the Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC), to ensure that workforce development and occupational standards are robust and relevant for both youth and adult provision.
