Welcoming the Learning and Skills Improvement Service
12 June 2008
"We welcome the announcement on June 10 of the establishment of the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) and the appointment of Roger McClure as the new body's Chief Executive.
We have already been working closely with both Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) and Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL) in developing the first ever Workforce Strategy for the Further Education sector in England and will ensure that we continue to do so with other partners through the roll out of the strategy's Implementation Plan.
As the independent employer-led Sector Skills Council for the lifelong learning sector, we are confident that by working together with other national partners and the Single Voice, the sector will be able to shape the type of support it needs to continue to build on its excellence and move towards self-regulation."
David Hunter, Chief Executive of Lifelong Learning UK
