Star Awards - For people making a difference in learning and skills

Time is running out to make your nominations for the Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) STAR Awards. If you work with someone who always goes the extra mile, now's your chance to give them the recognition they deserve.

Anyone can nominate including staff and learners and the nomination process is quick and easy. Simply visit the STAR Award Website and submit a short description of no more than 250 words to describe why your nominee should win the award this year.

With ten categories open to individuals and three for teams, the STAR Awards cover all aspects of provision. The 2008 categories are:

  • teaching training and learning practitioner
  • skills for life
  • lifetime achievement
  • support role
  • learning support
  • leadership
  • innovation
  • engaging employers
  • workforce development
  • response to learners' needs.

There's an added incentive to nominate too as QIA is offering a great prize of a £500 digital camera to the organisation that receives the greatest number of nominations from learners. If you're a manager, tutor or team leader, why not encourage your learners to nominate to be in with a chance of getting not only recognition for your hardworking colleagues but also a top of the range digital camera.

Nomination packs containing posters, flyers and postcards to help you promote the awards to your colleagues and learners can be requested by e-mailing the QIA Excellence Team or calling 0845 225 4523.

To allow for a busy period in the further education and skills sector calendar, the deadline to make nominations for the QIA STAR Awards has been extended to 27 June 2008.
