Where can I teach adults?

You could teach in a wide variety of settings and areas

What sort of roles are available?

  • You can be a full "traditional" teacher
  • You can be someone who supports learners
  • You can be someone who assesses learners, but doesn't teach them.
  • You could be a youth worker or library assistant

What qualifications do I need?

If you want to teach, most employers look for candidates with vocational qualifications and wide experience, or a degree in their chosen subject.  In addition  you'd need to gain a teaching qualification for teaching adults - you can do this on the job, or before you start working. You don't need to have GCSE English, Maths and Science to do the qualification. If your Maths and English aren't at this level, you'll be helped to improve them, as you do the qualification.

What sort of people would I be teaching?

You could be teaching people from age 14 to 114! You could also be teaching people who have some learning difficulties or people for whom English is not their first language.
