Information about apprenticeships
Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) is responsible for establishing and managing the framework of apprenticeships/modern apprenticeships in youth work across the UK and information and library services in England and Wales. This includes issuing completion certificates in England and Wales, and registering centres and registering and certificating Modern Apprentices in Scotland.
If you are interested in becoming qualified in one of the LLUK apprenticeships, you should first contact the LLUK Information and Advice Service on 0207 936 5798, your local connexions/careers advisor or your local provider of apprenticeships - this might be your local further education college or a private provider.
In England and Wales, a list of local providers can be obtained from either the City and Guilds or ABC awarding bodies; in Scotland, this information can be obtained from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
For information on the frameworks, including components of qualifications, please download relevant information for England and Wales and Scotland by clicking on the appropriate link. (Please note that the certificate request form for England and Wales is also available and the registration and certification forms for Scotland are included in the link above). Information about apprenticeships with an emphasis on the youth work framework is now available as an online presentation by Aidan Jackson.
Information about careers in youth york can also be obtained from:
- National Youth Agency (NYA) in England
- Youth Council for Northern Ireland
- Welsh Assembly Government in Wales
- Youth Link in Scotland.
LLUK have three leaflets giving an outline of the apprenticeships. One for young people, one for employers and one for providers, available in the associated documents links at the bottom of the page.
