Overview of LLUK in Scotland
Welcome to Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) in Scotland.
LLUK works closely with lifelong learning employers and other stakeholders in Scotland to ensure that their views are represented, both within Scotland and across the UK. LLUK is committed to meeting the needs of lifelong learning employers at both regional and national level and to ensuring that the needs of the sector in Scotland are included in all aspects of our work.
The lifelong learning workforce in the Scotland is estimated to consist of approximately 155,500 individuals, including:
- 10,935 staff in community learning and development (CLD)
- 12,330 staff in 43 further education (FE) institutions
- 52,091 staff in 21 higher education (HE) institutions
- 5,205 staff in libraries, archives and information services (LAIS)
- 75,000 staff in work based learning (WBL).
