Professional development opportunities
Qualifications developed within the Skills for Life framework at level 2 and 3 are still available but are currently being revised by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), in order to provide a coherent progression route in the new qualification framework.
The 'Level 2 Certificate in Adult Learner Support' has been revised and is now available as 'Level 2 Certificate in Learning Support'. This qualification promotes an awareness of learners' Skills for Life needs and ways to support their learning. A mandatory unit together with one optional unit (chosen from three available) can be combined as a separate award. It is titled 'Level 2 Award in Literacy, Language, Numeracy and ICT Awareness'.
The 'Level 3 Certificate in Subject Support (Literacy, Numeracy or ESOL)' is still available for learning support practitioners and teachers in an associate teaching role. This will remain available until other professional development opportunities are developed.
