International
Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) is active in the international arena, as well as across the UK and actively promotes working internationally. Details of some of the projects LLUK is currently involved in are shown below.
Vocational education and training brochure
UK Trade and Investment commissioned LLUK to lead on creating a brochure showcasing the UK's vocational education and training (VET) to overseas ministers, colleges and business. LLUK collaborated with strategic partners across the UK to deliver the finished product.
Global skills: world class learning
LLUK co-sponsored this one-day conference held on 14th June 2006, which explored "world class" education by bringing together the further education (FE) sector to share and build on existing international partnerships, in order to meet the challenge of a global economy. Funded by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), other sponsors included the Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL), Association of Colleges (AoC), British Council, UK Trade and Investment, the Times Educational Supplement and the Learning and Skills Council.
International consortium
LLUK is now working with CEL and AoC and a number of other partners to build a consortium to represent the interests of and build international market opportunities for the FE system overseas. Its purpose is to promote international student recruitment and global partnerships, and to be a vehicle for international service provision.
RAWABIT, Iraq
This project, supported the British Council, is building the capacity of the VET sector in Iraq through a leadership and management programme for Iraqi deans and principals. LLUK sits on the project steering committee, along with DfES, AoC and CEL and hosted Iraqi representatives of the project during a visit to the UK in December, 2006.
