14-19 Workforce Development

The 14-19 education reforms present new challenges and opportunities for the education workforce. A 14-19 workforce development partnership has been established by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to ensure that sufficient support is available for everyone involved in delivering the reforms.

Lifelong Learning UK are working in partnership with the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) to provide professional development support for those involved in delivering the 14-19 Diploma. Our support seeks to:

  • identify the generic skills that will be required of practitioners (teachers, tutors and trainers) to successfully deliver the Diploma
  • inform continuing professional development and initial teacher training routes for practitioners
  • ensure practitioners can achieve occupational currency for their specific line of learning.

Who is our support for?

These professional development opportunities are designed to enhance the skills and expertise of anyone involved in delivering the 14-19 Diploma. Our support is primarily for those involved in delivery across the further education sector, but is also of importance to those delivering in the school sector.

All support and resources are useful for staff development managers and leaders of continuing professional development to help plan training and development programmes for the workforce.
